Raffle for Washington Island Fire Rescue!

We are hosting a BTAC raffle to aid Washington Island Fire Rescue! For just this raffle tickets limited to 1,000 total tickets and the price per ticket is $25. "We are seeking funds to help us further push for a proper Fire/Rescue boat on
Washington Island.

Since the full closure of the Coast Guard’s Washington Island station, the Washington
Island Fire Department has had to take over all water-related emergencies. In the last
seven years, water emergencies have represented 55% of the Fire Department's total
non-medical calls. Sadly, an additional 35% of calls, the current Fire/Rescue boat was
unable to respond due to its inadequacies or the Mutal Aid requesting units cancelling of
the boat.

Tragedy struck our small community recently with the passing of two young visitors. The family of David Thalman came to us and expressed their desire to see their tragedy become
one of positivity. They started a campaign to help us get the rest of our funding for the much-
needed Fire/Rescue boat. Their insistence on a partnership has brought a renewed since of
urgency to this project.

It is their, and our, hope this partnership will be the catalyst that brings the boat the Island
needs, home.
